In Greene County district court Ryan James Brown, 46, of Jefferson was sentenced Nov. 20 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for two years. He was fined $625with a $218.75 surcharge. In the same case Brown was sentenced to one year in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. That prison term was also suspended and he was placed on unsupervised probation for two years. Should Brown serve the prison terms they will be consecutive. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined$315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Court costs were $100.
A companion case in which Brown was charged with eluding and was dismissed on a motion of the state. Brown must pay $20 court costs in that case. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Nathaniel James Biggart, 21, of Jefferson pleaded not guilty to a charge of unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,000 (two counts). A trial date was set for Jan.29.
